Ask Anything :: Photo Delivery

Ask Anything

Today we’re jumping back into our Ask Anything series to answer another question that comes up a lot during consultations. “How do we get the pictures?” is asked frequently. There are a few different ways photographers today will deliver photos to their couples. We’re explaining how we do it…

There’s something called the Shoot and Share movement. This is a business style that many wedding photographers share. The idea is this; our couples invest a large chunk of their wedding budget into quality photography along with an outstanding photography experience. Once the wedding is over and the photos are edited, we as photographers hand them over to our couples, no strings attached. Thus the “share” portion of the Shoot and Share name tag. No minimum print orders, no additional fees for the digital files, and no pushy album sales.

Our couples receive an archival flash drive that contains all of their wedding photos, in addition to their online viewing gallery which also contains all of their wedding photos. By delivering the photos in two ways, we get to enjoy the process of packaging and mailing out a hand tied ribbon, and we still believe there’s something to be said for hand made gestures. But we also get to provide our couples with the luxury of the newest, easiest and fastest way to share photos. The gallery is how couples can share their photos with friends and family. From the gallery, all downloads are free. FREE. No… we do not charge your Aunt Sally $7 per photo download. We do not photograph weddings as a means to sell prints or files. Our couples have already invested in our time, the editing, and the cost of the files with printing and sharing rights. Our couples have already paid for our services, the photos are theirs to share, and we couldn’t be happier about that. Plus, as soon as the photos are upload to Facebook, anyone and everyone will right click then save the terribly compressed file and attempt to print it at CVS. The end result of this method of sharing photos makes our stomaches turn. The quality of that picture is nothing like the original image. We WANT couples to share their photos via their online gallery. The downloads are high resolution (something you’ll never get from Facebook saves) and the prints you can order from the gallery’s printing company are incredible, not to mention just as inexpensive as something you’d get from CVS.

In short, we deliver the photos to our couples with the intention of giving them over, putting them in the hands of their rightful caretakers for years and generations to come. These photos are our couples’ to cherish, and they have the ability to share them with family and friends to their hearts desire. When that happens, our job is done.
