Tips and Tricks :: Slow Songs

Tips and Tricks

By the time your reception rolls around, the majority of the wedding day fuss is behind you, and this is the time to let go and have fun with your guests! It’s party time! We’ve seen all kinds of receptions, and we’ve worked with many different DJ’s. The super fun dance parties are always our favorite, and the photos of your guests breaking it down on the dance floor can be awesome not to mention hysterical. Not everyone is a big dancer though, so it’s good to remember to throw a few slow songs into the mix too. Even the most outgoing crowds need a break from all that dancing, and a slow set of songs allows even more of your guests to take the dance floor. As photographers, we love when slow songs come on. This is when we can usually get some sweet photos of your parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles dancing together. Grandma isn’t typically up on the dance floor bustin’ moves, but when a nice slow song comes on, you’ll usually find her swaying with Grandpa.

We hear from our couples so often that some of the most treasured photos from their wedding day are those of their relatives paired up and dancing together at the reception. Help these moments along by playing slow songs a few times at your reception, and we’ll be able to capture them. Your DJ is probably already planning on doing this, but in case you thought you’d skip the slow songs completely, it might be a good idea to keep them in the line up.
