4th of July Recap

Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, 4th of July… we love our holidays. Especially now that we have TWO sweet boys to enjoy them with, we really like to make big deals out of special times of the year. Holidays are becoming more and more fun in this family! We also love traditions, and one that has emerged ever since Sweet Cheeks was a baby, is our trip to the Town of La Plata’s 4th of July Watermelon Bash. It’s the epitome of small town nostalgia, and we just love it. Watermelon eating contests, water slides, free hot dogs and ice cream, music, face painting, and the best part of all… the La Plata Fire Department’s truck that sprays water for the kids to play in, right in front of Town Hall. It doesn’t get any better than that! Our 4th started off with a morning and afternoon at the Watermelon Bash. Check it out…

 

We have a photo of Sweet Cheeks chowing down on a watermelon slice from every year. The tradition continues 😉

This slip-n-slide water blow up thing was so much fun! Sweet Cheeks spent half of the day here. He got the hang of it after a while!

The other half of the afternoon was spent running through the water from the fire truck. This kid LOVES it, he looks forward to this every year! Chubby Cheeks didn’t get in on the act, but he did get his very first plastic fire helmet. We’ve gone through at least 100 of those things!

Let us tell you about this popsicle. First of all, Sweet Cheeks has decided “Bomb Pops” are his current favorite. Now that he’s almost 4, his Mother is letting go of her health standards a little bit and letting him indulge in some corn syrup and red dye.

See this? This is baby brother showing his puppy dog eyes up at big brother, hoping to get a taste of whatever that colorful thing is. It looked good.

And this is big brother giving baby brother a taste of the corn syrup and red dye. Fabulous. Baby’s first food.

Now you see, baby’s breastfeeding, somewhat crunchy, slightly health nutty mother wasn’t having it. So this is baby brother’s sad face. He’ll get over it.
