Tips and Tricks :: The 5 Second Rule

Tips and Tricks

Happy Friday! We’re gearing up for another wedding this weekend, and we’re excited as usual! As we do that, we’ll leave the week with a blog post from our Tips and Tricks series. It’s a quick and simple one, but it’s so important! Here goes…

During that first kiss, after being pronounced a married couple, always make sure it’s a good one, and use the 5 second rule. The what? The 5 second rule. Let us explain…

Go in for whatever kind of kiss you’ve practiced (because you know you’ve practiced) and just make sure you count to 5. In other words, give your photographers a little extra time to get more than one shot of the kiss. No pecks please! We’ve never missed a kiss shot (knock on wood) and we don’t plan on it, but recently we’ve had to make mad dashes around selfie sticks jutting out into the aisle that are covering the Bride’s dress or the couple’s faces. In those instances, we were grateful the couple gave us more than 1 or 2 seconds of a kiss. Those extra seconds gave us time to jump around the guests and their cameras, and are why we had a clear photo to give them. Without the extra time, we would have to give them a first kiss photo with Aunt Sally’s arm and cell phone in full view.

So no one is asking you to make out up there 😉 Just give a nice, 5 second kiss. And if you really want to make the world a better place, you’ll go in for one extra kiss too!
