Washington Wedding Experience :: Recap

Business

This past Sunday, we were a part of the Washington Wedding Experience at the DC Convention Center. This show is always the first one we do in the new year, and it’s always the biggest. Hundreds of vendors and hundreds of Brides, Grooms, Maids and Moms walked the floor of the convention center soaking in (at times an overwhelming) amount of information about what goes into planning a wedding. We were so excited to be welcomed back to the show this year and we can’t believe how wonderful it turned out to be… even better than last year!

Our display got a little makeover this year. The wall was painted a fresh minty blue color that matches the walls of our studio. The big white table was the perfect centerpiece to hold all of our sample albums. Because the table top was so large, 6 people could stand around it at once while they flipped through the albums. This was a huge benefit because at times we were very crowded and it cut down on the line. Our favorite part is the flooring we added. A trip to Home Depot turned out to be a lucky one when we snagged a leftover  remnant of flooring. It was the perfect size!

Another small addition to our display that ended up having a huge impact were the picture lights we added at the top. LOVED how much brighter our display was this year.

We brought some small decorations from our studio with us, and added some fresh flowers.

So there you have it! This is what our display looks like for 2014 and we are very happy with it. Maybe now we won’t have to do anymore painting anytime soon  😉

With Bridal Show season in full swing we are humbled to see so many dates being secured by some of the sweetest couples around. We truly are the luckiest photographers in the world! As we look ahead to the following 4 to 6 weeks, we expect Spring and Summer of 2015 to book up to about 80% full. Fall of 2015 is also turning out to be a very popular time of year for weddings, and so we want to remind couples that it’s never too early to reach out to your favorite vendors. Over a year away, it may seem like you are too early to start planning your wedding day photography, but it’s not! Now is the time to start communicating with vendors, especially venues and photographers as they typically book first and the fastest.

Right now, we are booking 2015 wedding dates. Every weekend until the end of February is filled with consultation appointments. We are so excited to get to know all of the new BOAF couples in the coming weeks!

So for engaged couples interested in our work, especially those who meet us at bridal shows, we encourage you to reach out to us right away to schedule a time to get together and get to know each other. You’re never too early  😉

Have a great Tuesday! We’ll be back again later in the week with a rundown of all the bridal shows we’ll be doing this year, so keep an eye out for that!
