Washington Bridal Showcase :: Recap & Recommendations for Brides

Business

Good morning! This past weekend we had the best time as a vendor at the Washington Bridal Showcase. This was the first “big” bridal show we had ever done. We were scared… seriously nervous at the thought of renting a truck, packing it full of our display items, driving said oversized truck into DC, then setting up and being among the amazing wedding vendors involved with this show.  But we did it. We drove that big moving truck like old pros, set up our display in record time, passed out business cards, talked to Brides and Grooms, and enjoyed the heck out of the whole weekend. We also ate more cake than anyone should ever consume in a 24 hour period. We love food vendors!

There were so many of you who came out to meet us. Your warmth and support have meant more to us than you may ever realize. Thank you from both of us, for all of your kind words about our work. They mean so very much.

We will always want to change something about our display, add to it, take from it, make it perfect… but for the time being this is our little happy place at bridal shows.

Albums were set up inside our booth ready and waiting for couples to look through. We even brought half of Maggie’s living room along so folks could have a seat while they took a look at our work.

One surprise was how much of a hit our new business cards were! We have close to 40 different versions of our business cards, each with a different photo on the back. Our logo and information are on the front… everyone seemed to love these! They went almost as fast as the cake (well… not really, but who can compete with cake).

We spoke with close to 100 individual Brides that day (and some really cool Grooms came out too!) and sadly we had to disappoint many as our 2013 calendar is almost full. It seems many 2013 Brides are still in the planning process. There are so many wonderful photographers out there, we know every couple will have luck finding the photographer that is right for them. However, we typically book wedding dates 12 to 18 months in advance. So for all you 2014 Brides… now is the time! Your wedding is still a long ways away, and you do have a lot of time to plan it (enjoy this feeling… it will not last). However, we have already scheduled several coffee dates to get to know couples we met at this weekend’s show, and most of them have 2014 dates. It is never too early to talk to us about your wedding photography. We anticipate our 2014 calendar to start filling in the next few weeks. Our recommendation to anyone interested in using Birds of a Feather Photography for their wedding day is to reach out to us now, and schedule your meeting as soon as possible. We are always here to answer any questions you may have or assist you in any area of your wedding that we can. Happy Planning! We can’t wait to hear from you!
