With Thanksgiving on it’s way, and the last wedding of the year complete, we’re preparing for our official “Slow Season”. What does that mean? Well… it means our schedule is very laid back in terms of photography. No weddings until January, only a couple of engagement sessions, and a handful of boudoir sessions are on the calendar. This time of year is our time to spend with our families, and catch up on all the “weekend” activities we missed out on all year long. Pancake breakfasts at home, movie nights, steam cleaning our floors… things we just don’t have much time for during our busy season. Of course, Birds of a Feather Photography is not “closed” during this time of year. By no means are we shutting down and hibernating for months! We’ll still be doing a lot of consultations with 2015 couples, working on our end of year business tasks, updating the website with new photos we’ve taken throughout the year, cleaning our equipment, preparing for bridal show season, communicating with our couples and getting ready for the 2014 season which is just around the corner. We will still be working quite a bit, but we won’t have much to show you on the blog. What does that mean? It means the blog will slow down during the winter months.
Earlier this year, we decided to make our blog a “daily blog”. It was a goal of ours to post something interesting every day, and we managed to do it successfully! But we made the decision recently, to allow the blog to take on a more laid back posting schedule during our photography down time. We don’t want our readers to get bored with what they’re reading, and we don’t want the blog to be full of “filler” posts that we struggle to come up with. So, we just won’t do it! We promise to post to the blog at least once a week (often times more). Anytime we have photos to share with you, we will! We’ll be doing a lot of end of year style posts, looking back at the weddings we’ve been a part of this year. We have some engagement sessions on the schedule to share with you, and a big styled shoot just after New Years! Plus, we’ll have a lot of personal family photos to share with you between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
So stay with us! Do not be worried when you notice our blog posts are starting to dwindle. We’re still here, we’re still working, and we’re ready for the 2014 season! You will see posts to the blog the rest of this week, and a full week next week reflecting on weddings in the second half of our year. Starting December 9, the blog will begin to slow down.
Now we’re off to get ready for Thanksgiving! Have a wonderful “Thanksgiving Eve” as we call it in our family 🙂
(And because no post is complete without a photo… here’s another look at one of the centerpieces we’ll have on our Thanksgiving table this year.)
