What a weekend! We’re completely and totally biased, but the wedding we attended this past Saturday was the best ever. John, our son/brother, married the love of his life on Saturday at the Duke Mansion in Charlotte, NC. There’s a new Mudd in the world! Mandy Mudd (as we plan on calling her from now on) was an absolutely stunning Bride. She was radiant, and we couldn’t stop looking at her. The day felt like a dream. The weather was perfect, the details were gorgeous, and the company was incredible. Spending time with The Wilson family and all of John and Mandy’s friends was such a treat! Everyone was just so welcoming! It was the perfect weekend, and we couldn’t be more grateful for it!
Our cameras were left in Maryland. We didn’t take one single piece of our equipment with us. There’s probably a total of 10 iPhone pictures on our 2 phones, combined. We were not photographers this weekend. We were the Mother of the Groom, and a Bridesmaid. We were guests. We were champagne drinking, bouquet holding, laughing and hugging, no idea what time it was guests. We’re so thankful John and Mandy decided they wanted us to have the weekend off! Instead of juggling photography and the role of family at their wedding, they let us just enjoy the day. Instead, they brought on a fantastic photography team to document the event, allowing us to be fully present and enjoy the day. Their photographers were incredible! All day, we were asked “how are you letting go of the photography?” and honestly we were only able to put our worries and controlling nature aside because of their talent. Sure, we might have made the bed in the bridal suite when we noticed the photographer starting to set up. And we might have organized the Groom’s family formals instead of making the photographer read from a list… but that was pretty much the extent of our photographer role that day. We truly did not take any photos with our cameras, and it felt amazing. It gave us a refresher course on how to be a good wedding guest, and reminded us of what it’s like to have your photo taken all day. In fact… we feel a blog post coming just about that!
As the newlyweds jet away for their honeymoon, we’re back in Maryland ready to start a new week. We have fun and exciting things coming up, and it’s just about time to start winding down for the year, and to begin prepping for the 2016 bridal show season! Have a great week! We’ll share photos of John and Mandy’s wedding whenever we can, but for now we are waiting patiently and letting their photographers do their job.
