Monday Minuets :: October 6, 2014

Welcome to October! It’s our first Monday Minutes of the month and we are preparing for a crazy series of weeks ahead. Spring weddings are always going to be popular, causing that season to be a packed one for most wedding photographers. But what most people don’t realize is how much busier the Fall season is! Not only do we do just as many weddings in the Fall as we do in the Spring… EVERYONE wants a Fall engagement session. Everyone. As lovers of Fall ourselves we completely understand why. The colors of October are just gorgeous and so romantic. So as we look ahead to the coming weeks, we have to remind ourselves not to feel overwhelmed with the workload, and instead be excited to shoot so many sessions and weddings during one of our favorite times of the year. Luckily, we managed to keep one weekend partially to ourselves during this season. This past weekend we photographed a stunning wedding on the water in Southern Maryland, but we gave ourselves the other half of the weekend to spend time together as a family and sneak in some fun Fall outings. Starting today, we won’t have any time to take a break until Thanksgiving. You might think we’re exaggerating, but we literally work every day, Monday through Sunday, for the next 7 weeks. Sometimes we’ll be shooting back to back engagements all week long with weddings and more engagement sessions on the weekends. To say this is a busy time of year is an understatement! Now we’re just praying the weather is kind to our couples so they can have their sessions on the days scheduled! So… there will be a lot to come on the blog and we can’t wait to share it with you! In the meantime, excuse us if we have some bags under our eyes 😉

Here’s a recap of our pumpkin filled weekend…

• On Friday Sweet Cheeks took his first ever field trip to Middleton Farm! He just loved running through the maze, choosing “his” pumpkin and petting all the animals. It was so sweet to watch him with his school friends. We’ll have more to share this week.

• Saturday we woke up to good news from the weather reports, and it looked like Jess and Ray’s wedding day would be rain free! And it was! These two gorgeous people had a stunning wedding at the Bride’s family’s estate along the water in Southern Maryland. We have so much more to share with you, and we can’t wait! For now, here’s just one…

• Sunday was our Fall Fun Day! Sweet Cheeks has been talking about going to Bowles Farm since we were there last year. Like his mother, he’s in love with all things Fall. Corn mazes, hay rides, pumpkin patches, caramel apples, and petting zoos. Since the weather was going to be perfectly sunny with a chill in the air, we spent the day at the farm. We stayed all day and just let ourselves enjoy the day without rushing. Sweet Cheeks roamed the farm and we followed, letting him just play and letting ourselves focus only on our time together. We also left with way too many pumpkins, requiring two wheelbarrows to get them to the cars 😉
