Let’s face it, Grooms sometimes take a back seat to the Bride on a wedding day. Same sex weddings aside, we have always noticed a gap in attention between the Bride and Groom. The hair, the makeup, the dress, the shoes, the veil, that ring! There’s so much to “oooh” and “ahhhh” over when it comes to the Bride (for good reason, she’s gorgeous). However, it’s not fair for a Groom to be completely forgotten. There is a marriage happening here! A two way partnership taking place that requires TWO people! The Groom is that second, equally as important person and we are on a mission to make sure he’s not left out… at least in terms of photos 😉
That’s where the Groom’s Portrait comes in. It’s so important to make time to get some gorgeous and classic portraits of a Bride on her wedding day. In our opinion, it’s just as important to create portraits that capture a Groom on his wedding day. In the moments before he stands to wait for his wife at the alter, when the anticipation and nerves and excitement start to consume him… we want a portrait of that man. The man who is about to become a husband. The man who is more in love than he’s ever been. He, in those moments, is who we want to photograph.
So please, make time for your photographers to catch the Groom in a quite moment. Make sure the Groom arrives to the church/venue early, with enough time to spare for a few moments alone with the photographer. Too often Groom’s are in a rush, searching for a belt, or goofing off with his Groomsmen. Make time in your wedding day to give him a chance to settle in, prepare mentally for the ceremony, and have his portrait taken.
