Today we’re getting back to our “A Day in the Life” series of posts. This time we’re giving you a look into what a week looks like for us during wedding season. To show you just one day in our life wouldn’t give you a clear picture of all that we do, since our schedule is so different day to day. Instead, we’ll take you through a typical week, outlining where we are, what we’re doing, and when we’re usually doing it. Some tasks we both work on, and others we delegate. So, here we go!
We’ll start with Monday because that’s usually the start to a normal work week, although it’s hard to really say when our week begins 😉

Thursday
Our day off!!! We try not to work much on Thursdays to give ourselves some down time. But here’s what we end up doing instead:
-Write, post and share on social media today’s blog post
-Emails
-Sometimes we’ll do an engagement session Thursday evenings… if it’s one of the only days a couple is available and we are available (because it’s our day off)
Friday
-Write, post and share on social media today’s blog post
-Emails
-Confirm timeline with this weekend’s couple
-Charge camera batteries, clear cards, prepare equipment, pack equipment
-Final post office trip of the week, to pick up any incoming mail/packages
-Bank trip
-Final bookkeeping of the week, to close us out and prepare for next week
-Supply run for office needs, batteries, snacks (to keep us going during the weddings)
-Gas up cars
-Print timeline, review timeline, try to memorize family formal list
-5pm mandatory end of day, dinner with the family and time to relax before the wedding. Unless we need to travel, if so we drive to our hotel instead.
Saturday
Wedding Day! A typical wedding day we cover is 10 hours of photography. We always arrive early, and we never leave right away. Between everything going on that day plus our driving time, we typically spend 12 to 14 hours running on a wedding day. That night we come home and crash.
Sunday
This is another day off for us. The most we do is answer essential emails that have come in since Friday evening. And of course, there’s the engagement sessions we do on Sundays 😉
So there you have it. That’s what a week looks like for us between March and November, which is our wedding season. Sometimes we have a Saturday without a wedding which means we actually DO get a day with the family, unless we’ve scheduled engagement sessions or consultations that day. For anyone out there wondering how we organize our week, we hope this gives you some insight into how we do it.
Have a great Tuesday!
