Every time we photograph a wedding in the rain, we can’t help but hum “Come Rain or Come Shine” all day long (the Billie Holiday recording is our favorite). A rainy wedding day is our favorite kind. We know that sounds crazy… but there’s something so calming about the constant white noise a light rain brings. Of course, every wedding needs a solid rain plan, and photographers who are comfortable shooting in/around the elements, but with everything in place and nothing to worry about but a few rain drops, these rainy weddings can be magical. Not only did we have the pleasure of photographing a gorgeous wedding on Saturday, we worked with one amazing couple. They never even mentioned the rain, but to ask us if we were ok heading out under an umbrella. Of course!! Usually we’re the ones who have to ask our Brides if they are open to a few outdoor portraits in the rain! The rain fell pretty much all day, and thanks to a church ceremony there wasn’t any real need to have a rain plan. After the ceremony, the bridal party were troopers under umbrellas for portraits at the height of the heavy stuff. Then, we jumped in golf carts to take the bride and groom out to a nice portrait spot and their luck kicked in… the rain let up and we could enjoy a few moments of photos without holding umbrellas. It was so much fun, and it was one of the most calm and relaxed wedding days we’ve ever photographed thanks to the wonderful people we were working with.
Here’s a quick shot of Steffie and Kris from their big day. The 1757 Gold Club was a new venue to us, and we just loved it! It’s a pretty venue, with a fantastic staff, and the food was out of this world! Now we’re off to edit the rest and get a full blog post up for you soon! You’re going to LOVE this one… we sure did!
P.S. – We’re officially into full speed wedding season! We have weddings or engagements or bridal shows now through July, so be ready to see a Monday Minutes every week and lots of new posts coming to the blog! Here we go!!!!
