This intro may be a little different than most you’ll see here on Wedding Wednesday, and that’s because this wedding was really pretty. Pinterest worthy! You’ll soon see how picture perfect this wedding day was! The feature image we end up choosing for each wedding on the blog takes a while to decide on. How do we want to represent this wedding with just one image? Which portrait of this couple will give the most accurate reflection of the day, if it’s the only one viewers see? We could have chosen any number of perfectly styled portraits with impeccable backgrounds, a pristine bouquet held at just the right angle, or fun balloon props. Balloons people!!! But this one image of a Bride and Groom walking on a dirt road, his arm holding her tight as she pulls the hem of her dress off the muddy ground… this image was our favorite the moment we shot it. It’s real, it’s imperfect, it’s them, and it doesn’t need any styling.
And yes, Megan and Steven planned what will surely become a highly pinned wedding, but the details and decor did not make this wedding special to us. Megan and Steven did. Moments like the one above did. Their love, joy and excitement to be married made the day one we’ll never forget. The way she looked at him with bright eyes and a huge smile. The way he did everything to give his Bride all she dreamed of. Those things, those memories, made this wedding day beautiful.
(But yeah… we squealed a little bit when we saw the balloons. Who doesn’t love balloons!?! And don’t even get us started on the doughnut cake.)
So Megan and Steven had a special, small ceremony on the morning of their wedding. You see, where they were married in Virginia, the rules for who can perform the ceremony, legally, can be challenging. This couple wanted their big ceremony in front of guests to be performed by a dear friend, but it wouldn’t have made them legally married. So, the problem solving roll with the punches type of people that they are, they just went ahead and got legally married before hand! They also were cool enough to do it without seeing each other, on either side of a brick wall. Yes, they are awesome.
Megan and Steven, your day could not have been more perfect. Everything went smoothly, and every detail was exactly where it should have been. Your wedding was a visual reminder of how happy and joyful a life filled with love can be. You put the same kind of care and attention into your wedding celebration that we know you’ll put into your marriage. But no matter how pretty the details and flowers may have been, you two and the legacy of love you are building together was the most beautiful thing we saw all day. Congrats!!! xoxo M&B
