As wedding photographers, we do so much more than just take pictures. We’re one of the few wedding vendors who spends ALL DAY with a couple. We’re with a couple from the time a Bride’s hair and makeup begin, through to the send off. We are there for everything, and most of the time there are a few (sometimes a lot) of minor hiccups that occur throughout the day. We’re by no means experts, but after shooting almost 100 weddings, we have experienced more than the average Bridesmaid. That means, we’re able to anticipate those hiccups before they happen, and we can be prepared. All the while, we want to give the majority of our focus to the photography. After all, that’s what we’ve been hired to do! That’s where our Wedding Day Assistants come in. They help take care of all the non-photography related tasks that end up affecting the timeline, and eventually the photography too.

Our assistants are not photographers, nor are they interested in being photographers. They are an extra set of hands. They are a third pair of eyes. They’re like the best Maid of Honor in the history of weddings, prepared for almost anything, champagne and bobby pins at the ready! They are our assistants and will help us with our gear, timeline, and other photography related tasks first. But our assistants are also there to help keep the day moving. When the day moves (pretty close) to the timeline, our couples have a more enjoyable day, and we can create more time for photos. With our assistant on hand, she can help whenever and wherever it’s needed. We can focus on the photos, and as a team we’re able to keep the wedding timeline moving smoothly, making sure there’s ample time for the photos our couples have asked of us.

Our Wedding Day Assistants will typically do the following tasks throughout the wedding day:

  • Arrive to the venue before coverage begins, to walk through the day’s timeline
  • Help carry our gear and set up throughout the day
  • Assist with bridal detail photos by handling the dress, shoes, jewelry, rings, stationary, etc.
  • Clean a space in the room for photos
  • Assist the Bridesmaids and Bride as needed, while they get into their dresses
  • Keep track of time, and keep the photographers on schedule
  • Assist during the First Look and portraits
  • Assist the Groomsmen and Groom as they get dressed, pinning on boutonnieres for example
  • Assist during group formals
  • Lead family formal photos, organizing groups of family members from the list the couple provided
  • Assist during sunset portraits
  • Set up our lighting equipment in the reception space
  • Hold lights during photos of reception decor

  • Create an extra bouquet from left over, extra flowers
  • Hail cabs
  • Fix the Bride’s hair
  • Fix the Bride’s makeup

  • Keep the Groom away from the Bride before the First Look
  • Carry, fluff, lay out, and remove tiny bugs from the Bride’s train
  • Carry the Bride’s bouquet
  • Bring the Bride a beer!
  • Use flowers to cover bald spots on a cake
  • Help the Best Man search for the rings
