Tips and Tricks :: The Dancing Couple

Tips and Tricks

We’re back after a restful, joyful, and fun long weekend! We hope everyone had time to relax and connect with the people they love.

Today we’ve got a tips and tricks post all about the reception! Couples often times, look at our galleries of receptions and say “wow… there are so many dancing photos!” We’re the type of photographers who don’t like to sit down, and we’re constantly shooting at the reception. You see, we’re lucky to work with some really fun couples! They usually end up having great receptions with lots of dancing.

We recently worked with a wonderful DJ who said something that made perfect sense, but we had never realized it before. He told us, when a couple dances, their guests will dance. If the couple isn’t on the dance floor, it will be hard to get guests out there. It’s true! Looking back, we realized that although there will always be a group of guests who love to dance and will do so no matter what, the times when dance floors are packed is when the couple is out there together, dancing themselves.

So this tip is an easy one… dance! When the dinner tables are cleared, the cake has been cut and you’ve made your rounds, it’s time to dance! Don’t stand on the sidelines of your wedding, get in there and enjoy it!

How do you get those awesome photos of the couple laughing, smiling, dancing with their guests? You dance! You get on that dance floor, forget about your two left feet, ignore the fact that you “don’t really dance” and let loose. Enjoy it! Be the life of your own party, and inspire your guests to get out there and let loose with you. They’ll remember that. They’ll remember the dance off between Granny and your Best Man. They’ll remember belting it out to “Sweet Caroline”, and they’ll remember when they had a chance to dance with you at your wedding. So dance, and enjoy!
