Official start to the blog’s slow season

Business

It’s that time of year again… that time when the blog slows down and does not have daily posts for a while. Does this mean we are “off”? Nope! Does this mean we are “closed”? Heck no! It just means we are not actively taking a ton of photos, and without a steady stream of new photos to share with you, we won’t have a steady stream of new blog posts. The thing we don’t want to do with this blog is bore any of you loyal readers. There’s a big difference between a good blog post and a bad blog post. A good blog post, in our opinion, shares our recent work (weddings, engagements, styled shoots which take up a majority of this blog), shares useful information, shares personal insight into our lives, and is fun to read! A bad blog post is just boring and you can tell that it’s “filler”… just there to slap something up and call it a day. We don’t want to do a disservice to this blog or to our readers with a ton of filler posts throughout the winter months. So we just won’t!

Instead, we’ll cut back and we will not be posting daily for a while. Just like last year, we’ll instead be posting at least once a week, if not 2 or 3 times a week. Depending on how busy our photography schedule is, will determine how many things we have to post. There are a ton of things we want to share with you during this “slow blogging season” and we’ll be sure to do so. Things like trends we saw this year, more tips and tricks for our couples, insight into our lives, and personal posts… especially once the new baby arrives! So please be on the lookout for plenty of blogging January through March, but don’t be surprised when you notice the blog posts slow down and do not appear daily.

So to be clear, we are still working at a full time pace (because frankly this business doesn’t allow for any real time off). Aside from the standard Christmas and New Years holidays we’ll be “open” working on all the behind the scenes, business needs that we only have time for when weddings and engagements take a break. Things like album design, end of year accounting and taxes, bridal show prep, website upkeep and renewal, equipment cleaning, inventory, designing and printing new collateral, collaborating on styled shoots, and actually attending a handful of bridal shows will be keeping us plenty busy. Not to mention… Maggie’s due date is creeping up! At some point this baby might give us all a big surprise and arrive before his due date. If he catches us off guard, we’ll just roll with it and make it all work 😉

Next week will begin the start of our blogging slow season and we imagine it will continue until we begin actively photographing again in March. But we promise to keep the blog up and running throughout the winter… just a little slower pace 😉
