Over Thanksgiving break, we took the opportunity to throw John and Mandy an engagement party. It was so much fun to put together this little gathering! We had the rail room to ourselves at Casey Jones, a favorite restaurant of ours just across the street from our studio. We knew we wanted to throw a relaxed but fun party for these two, with lots of yummy food and good friends to celebrate their engagement. Luckily, that’s exactly how it turned out! Once the big details were set into place, we got to work on decorating for the event. Mandy loves Kate Spade, and we do too, so we took the classic elements of Ms. Spade’s iconic style and put together our own take on it. We knew we wanted to incorporate that bold and classic black and white stripe pattern into the decor somehow. Once we found this satin fabric, we were able to move to the flower vases and candles. Sticking to gold was the best option. We found plenty of odd shaped glass vases and containers, then spent a day spray painting them all. The we scored some awesome gold votives and we were set! Now all we needed to find were some white, light pink and dark pink flowers to go with our vision. This made us nervous… because it’s November! So we set our expectations low and made a trip to Whole Foods Friday morning. When we walked into their floral department we both squealed. There in front of us were dozens of bubble gum pink peonies! We can’t tell you how excited we were! We picked up a few dozen of those beauties, as well as some gorgeous smelling white freesia and a bunch or two of dark pink spray roses. We were all set! The afternoon of the party, we cut and arranged the flowers, and walked everything over to the restaurant. It turned out to be one of the best nights! So many friends and family members came out to celebrate with the happy couple, and we’re just thrilled that everyone had a good time. Check out this Kate Spade inspired engagement party!
Oh the cake! We forgot to mention the cake! We asked the pastry chef to put together a little cake for the Bride and Groom to be to cut into for fun… this is what we got! Gorgeous right!? And we had one lone peony left over that fit perfectly on the side.
And here’s a group shot of our family! Everyone actually stood still, looked at the camera, and smiled long enough to get this! We’re so excited! Congrats to you both John and Mandy! We love you both so much! Thank you for letting us put this together for you, we had so much fun!
