Good morning! Well… it’s a Monday morning, so it’s time again for our new “Monday Minutes” post series. This weekend was another fun, busy weekend here at BOAF Photography and we are very happy to be sitting down most of the day today ย ๐ ย This weekend was full of behind the scenes type of happenings, including the first big bridal show of the year. We managed to put down our screw drivers and pick up our cameras for just a few minutes this weekend to snag a few photos of our bridal show booth. Other than those few shots, we didn’t photograph much this weekend at all. But we did meet some really sweet engaged couples and made new vendor friends!
Here’s a breakdown of our weekend…
Friday morning was spent at Home Depot gathering last minute hardware, heavy duty tape, screws, light bulbs and paint. Then, the second half of the day we were in the studio re-vamping our display for Sunday’s bridal show. After a few new coats of our favorite color paint, and a lot of packing, we were ready for a night in with the family. Needless to say, we didn’t do any cooking ๐ But subs and the CAPS game was the perfect way to rest up for the next morning’s moving and set up day.
Saturday morning we were back at the studio for a morning of consultations. We met with two incredibly sweet couples, heard their wedding plans, learned more about how they met, awww’d over their proposal stories, and chatted about wedding photography. When lunch time rolled around it was time to get into bridal show gear, and we hauled our display (in pieces) down the stairs into our rental van. A quick lunch followed by a rather nerve wracking drive into DC while attempting to maneuver a huge panel van in heavy downpours, and we were at the DC Convention center loading dock ready to set up! 4 hours later, we were done and on the road again to head home for the night. The rain had just started to let up as we drove home… thank goodness!
Yesterday morning we went back to DC and this time the sun was out, so our drive was much nicer. We changed into our nice clothes, grabbed a coffee and diet coke, and did one last check of our booth. By 11am the couples were lining up at the doors, and we were ready for them! We talked to so many people! Neither of us EVER sat down, and we don’t think we ever stopped talking. Today our feet are sore and our voices are almost gone… but it was an awesome show! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to chat with us! We were the LAST vendors to leave the Convention Center, and as we left we were anxious to get home and send thank you emails out to the folks who visited with us. It was another late night, so like we said we’re happy we don’t have to go anywhere today ๐
Come back tomorrow for a full report and more photos from our day at the Washington Wedding Experience, and to learn what new couples can look forward to in the coming months. Have a great Monday!
