Tips and Tricks

Hi there! We’re back today with our Bridal Beauty series and our dear friend Monique Melton of Favia’s Artistry and the I Do Wedding Connection is here again to give our Brides more advice on how to look their best on their wedding day. Today, we asked Monique to share with us a the biggest mistake she’s seen Brides make in the past and how to avoid it. While some lessons are meant to be learned the hard way, we don’t want any Bride to suffer the consequences on their big day…

M&B – “What is the biggest mistakes you’ve seen Brides make in terms of wedding day beauty?”

Monique –

“The one mistake I see more often than any other is a Bride who wears too little makeup. Finding that middle ground between underdone and overdone is the hardest thing to accomplish, but it’s the most important balance to find within your wedding day makeup. Most of my clients tell me that they want to look natural. Most of the time, Brides don’t realize that the “natural look” still requires a certain amount of makeup application. To look “natural” a Bride will end up wearing more makeup than she thought she would. Because everyone’s skin and complexion varies, the amount of makeup and the techniques required to achieve a natural look will also vary. There’s a way to make a bride look great in person and in her photos without piling on a lot of makeup, but sometimes brides forget that they still need makeup in order to photograph well. The right makeup application techniques will simply enhance her natural glow. So make sure you don’t get scared off by the idea of wearing more makeup than you do on a regular basis, and don’t be shocked when you realize how much makeup is applied even to achieve a natural look.”

Thank you Monique! We couldn’t agree more! Natural looks are our absolute favorite, but Brides need to remember this makeup needs to last up to 10 hours sometimes so the right application is essential. From our point of view, making sure your face is photo ready means your features won’t bleed together in photos. Wearing enough makeup will contour your bone structure, bring out your eyes, and showcase the shape of your lips. When Brides have professional makeup applied and they wear the right amount, they are happier with the way they come across in photos.
