Well folks… today’s the day! It’s finally arrived! After years of dreaming, months of planning, weeks of “last minute” fixes our new studio and office is as ready as it will ever be. Today we’re so happy to welcome the community into our new little space in La Plata, MD. Please swing on by if you have the time and check out the place we get to call our own. No more consultations at a Starbucks! (Not that there’s anything wrong with that… it’s how we grew our business and we LOVE a good latte). But having our own place that represents who we are is something we are so excited about.
One or both of us will be there today from 11 to 6 and we’d love to say hello, get to know you and show you around. Growing up in Charles County, we love this small town community. It’s such an honor to be an official member of the business community in La Plata and we look forward to many years here.
Our office building is on Charles Street in downtown La Plata, right across the street from Casey Jones Restaurant and Bar. We are on the 2nd floor and our door will have our sign on the front.
Address: 406 Charles Street, Suite 200, La Plata, MD 20646
Please come by and say hello! We can’t wait to see you!
To give you a little look at what the studio looks like, here are a few shots from a small gathering we had last night to kick off the grand opening. Some of our dear friends came out to join us for champagne, toasts, and lots of sweets. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. It was such a wonderful evening and we are so proud to call you our friends. Thank you for your support and kindness over the years, without you we wouldn’t be here.
Our favorite floral designer and good friend Alicia, of Alicia Jayne Florals surprised us with this bright orange and yellow, beautiful arrangement! It fit perfectly on our meeting table and really added so much to the room. We’ll have to put in weekly flower orders with her! It will be so hard to NOT have the room full of beautiful blooms 😉 Thank you so much Alicia!
Some vintage cameras that were hiding out in a basement finally have a place to live!
Those chairs we found while thrift shopping a few weeks ago finally had enough coats of paint to look good enough for our opening. If we never see another can of spray paint we’ll be fine with that.
Here’s the story of the most amazing cake we’ve ever seen: When we were planning our open house, we were also planning a small gathering of friends the night before to kick things off right. We knew, without a doubt, we wanted to serve cake/cupcakes and naturally we wanted our close friend Michelle of Michelle’s Cakes to do them for us. When we emailed her to place our order get the payment to her, she insisted that we just leave the cake up to her, and she would “surprise” us. Even though we’re a bit on the Type A side, this was exciting and we were totally on board for whatever Michelle and her daughter (yes another Mother/Daughter team!!) would come up with. Plus… we were honored she’d even think to do something so kind for us. Then Michelle shows up last night with this…
Yes friends, that IS in fact a real cake. She went crazy! Michelle could not have made a more perfect cake for us and our grand opening. We’ve been calling our studio “the nest” just for fun in passing, and she included a huge replica of our camera inside a nest. Who thinks of this?! The feathers are perfect, and the two little birdies are adorable! She even put our logo and a photo of the two of us on there! Isn’t it incredible! We’ll never cut into it! Everyone who came last night had to do a double take when we told them it was a CAKE. Most people just skipped right by it at first because it was just too lifelike. Michelle nailed it! We are beyond thrilled with this thoughtful gesture, and frankly we’re blown away anyone would go to so much trouble for us. Thank you Michelle, you made this event so very special for us. We’re so glad to call you our friend. You’ve been there from the start and we can’t thank you enough! Your work is outstanding.
And because Michelle knew we wouldn’t want to cut into the cake, she also brought mini cupcakes for everyone to snack on! Brilliant!
So that’s what the space looks like! We hope many of you will come out to say hello and let us show you around. See you soon!
